This year’s Summer Festival is a special one, marking our 40th birthday. We’re bringing extraordinary music to unexpected places in East London, from museums, cafés and churches to markets and gardens.
Festival favourites The Sixteen and The English Concert return to Spitalfields alongside a late-evening choral pilgrimage from acclaimed choir Ex Cathedra, and there’s sumptuous baroque from leading early music ensemble Early Opera Company.
Festival newcomers Multi-Story Orchestra present a pop-up performance in the Museum of Childhood, early music is fused with folk sounds in a highly charged collaboration between L’Avventura London and The Old Blind Dogs, and beautiful and intriguing contemporary sounds are performed in the magnificent surroundings of Barts Pathology Museum.
There’s also an exciting collaboration with Lift Festival and the National Centre for Circus Arts: Depart, exploring the space between life and death in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
We’re sure you’ll find lots to enjoy this summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back in Spitalfields this June to help celebrate our 40th birthday.
