“If I am pure about my listening, and creating the sounds that come forth, the audience will feel that and respond to the sound. I am something akin to a high-wire artist. The audience are with you, because they perceive the risks and the dangers.” Pauline Oliveros
Furthering their collaborations exploring the connection between audience and player [Imagined Occasions, Across White Air], the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO) and designers O’Neill/Ross(Surrealist Taxi) curate a selection of Pauline Oliveros’ text scores to share in her unique approach to meditation and music making: transforming Shoreditch Church into a home for mindful listening.
Following this, LCO will perform the UK premiere of Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s In The Light Of Air. Rumbling and atmospheric, it calls to mind the sparse landscapes of Thorvaldsdottir’s native Iceland, featuring a light installation which dims and glows according to the players’ breath.
A limited number of Premium tickets are available for this event. Premium ticket holders will sit or lie on the floor, surrounding the musicians, as part of the immersive experience.
Those with access requirements should call our box office to book.
Due to unforeseen circumstances we have cancelled the 1.15am performance of In the Light of Air
