La Nuova Musica

La Nuova Musica

La Nuova Musica is a vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to the music of the European Renaissance and Baroque. Founded five years ago by David Bates, La Nuova Musica is already a regular guest at leading venues and festivals, including Kings Place, Wigmore Hall and the Aldeburgh, London Handel and Spitalfields Music festivals. The group’s ardour and commitment in performance has been much acclaimed: The Times declared its performance of Monteverdi madrigals at Spitalfields Music Winter Festival in 2010 to be “extrovert, free-spirited and alive to every sob, sigh and smile.” In 2011, La Nuova Musica was signed to harmonia mundi USA, joining an illustrious roster of artists including William Christie and Les Arts Florissants, René Jacobs and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and Richard Egarr and the Academy of Ancient Music. The group’s debut recording, a world premiere of the 1712 version of Handel’s Il pastor fido, featuring soprano Lucy Crowe, was launched to acclaim at the London Handel Festival this April.
